Steamroller is the bicycle in its simplest form. While it often gets compared to single-speed track bikes, it’s much more than that. Built to excel on crumbling city streets, its beefy tyre clearance makes it a great choice for minimalist commuters as well as dedicated winter commuters who know the havoc road salt wreaks on drivetrains.

This custom bike was assembled for use in a track-standing competition at the London Cycle show 2023. This bike is unused and in perfect condition.

This bike was specified as a ‘fixed wheel’ bike for indoor use. It has been equipped with a single front brake and could be legally used on UK roads if an experienced cyclist is able to use the rear fixed wheel as a brake. The Flip-Flop rear hub has a Halo Fix-T cover installed to cover the Freewheel threaded area. Alternatively, if a Freewheel use bike is desired, the Fix T cover can be removed and a rear caliper brake and lever could be retro-fitted to allow street legal use with 2 brakes. This build also included a QR seat clamp for easy adjustment for the London Show participants.

As one of the first models Surly ever produced, Steamroller is truly like a member of the family. And we’re talking about one we actually like, not your weird Uncle Norman who insists on showing you his magic tricks while always finding a way to ruin Christmas.
